catskills, september

We hung some new artwork around the apartment the other day. This piece by Caroline Wright is on the wall above our couch now, and I couldn’t love it more. (These photos hardly do it justice.)

fleet foxes

We went to the Fleet Foxes show at the Greek Theater a few weeks ago, and I was so inspired by the animated backdrop imagery. I took a few less-than-stellar snaps on my phone, but Alyson Redding got some fantastic ones when they played in Seattle. They were designed by Sean Pecknold; you can see more of the designs for the concert backdrop on his website.

cake coquette

Last week I photographed a few cakes for my friend Gabby of Cake Coquette. She is so insanely talented and her cakes are as delicious as they are beautiful. (She made my birthday cake this year!) See a few more photos I took last week here, and more photos of Gabby’s work here.

petit hotel hafa

I think I just found my next vacation destination: the Petit Hotel Hafa in Sayulita, Mexico. The six-room hotel sits just a few blocks from the beach, and has been decorated with Mexican, Mediterranean and Moroccan influences in mind. And would you believe the rooms are all under $100/night?! I think it’s time to dust off my passport…

wishes for baby

I love this baby shower gift from Won Jang to her sister Erin. Inspired by the endpapers of a children’s book, she had friends and family send in a sentiment for the baby, one thing they can’t wait for him to experience– his first fishing trip, his first baseball game, seeing his mama’s face for the first time – which were printed on leaves and made into this beautiful piece of art. Such a meaningful gift that certainly will be treasured for years to come!

garza design + build

A while back I bookmarked a photo a friend of mine took of an amazing leather chair at a hotel he was staying at in Austin, Texas. I couldn’t figure out who made it at the time and had forgotten about it until cleaning out my bookmarks recently. But this time I searched a little harder and was able to track down the designer: Jamey Garza of Garza Design + Build. Aren’t the chairs gorgeous? I’m particularly fond of the Desert Round Lounge.

to the stars and back

renegade craft fair

Renegade Craft Fair was in San Francisco this weekend, and a few friends and I ventured up to Fort Mason to check it out. I recognized many of the same vendors as last year but there were a handful of new ones too. I snagged a handful of business cards for gift ideas but I couldn’t resist buying a few things for myself too.

I got a beautiful leather and brass necklace from Tangleweeds. I forgot my camera (argh!) but fortunately Jeannine took some photos of her booth. The one I bought is the half moon with cream leather on the far right.

I also got a succulent planter from Planted by Chandra Abel Designs. As you can imagine, her booth was a big hit at the fair. I had to fight my way to the front of the table to grab one of those lovelies!

gray works

Swooning over the gorgeous wood cutting board/serving platters from Etsy shop Gray Works Design. A great gift idea, especially with a little personalized engraving!

A few bits of hand-lettered inspiration I’ve bookmarked lately…

1. Cotes du Fremont design by Kristofer Delaney; 2. type illustration by Jim Tierney; 3. “Sometimes You Just know” by Linzie Hunter
