scenes from the weekend

Nolan and I have caught the camping bug! This weekend we drove out to Yosemite with our friends Trevor and Camille. We stayed the night with their friend (now our friend, too!) Savastio in Sonora, where we were welcomed with gin and tonics and steaks on the grill. After a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast we hopped in the car for the slightly more than an hour drive to Cherry Lake where we parked and set off on our hike to Lake Eleanor. After setting up camp and exploring a bit, Savastio and I hiked up to Kibbie Creek and back just in time to start prepping for dinner. Being able to cook over a fire was a welcome change to our trip to Havasupai last month! Dehydrated meals have nothing on grilled sausages, potatoes, peppers and onions. And s’mores! Oh my goodness the s’mores were divine. We were in no hurry to get back on Sunday, so we slept in and had a leisurely breakfast (coffee and oatmeal) before packing up and hiking back to the car and heading home.  It was a really wonderful trip and I quite relished the time spent “unplugged” – no phone, no TV, no computer, heck we didn’t even have a watch! That’s certainly something I’d like to do more often, and it shouldn’t take a trip to Yosemite to make it happen. Hope you had a nice weekend, friends!

Looks like you’ve had a lovely weekend. Sometimes unplugging can be so relaxing.

    Thanks for sharing.
