scenes from the weekend

We spent the better part of the weekend in Golden Gate Park at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival this weekend, so scenes from the weekend is more like “scenes from a bluegrass festival” today. The festival was free so there were SO MANY people there. Like hundreds of thousands. We couldn’t see the stage at some of the shows we went to, and people were doing all sorts of crazy things (like climbing trees) to get a better view. But despite the crazy crowds, everyone seemed to be having a good time and was for the most part well-behaved.

There were five stages around the park and the lineup was amazing, so we had to make a few tough choices when two bands we wanted to see were playing at the same time.  The Avett Brothers and Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings were scheduled simultaneously, but were sadly the two shows I was most excited about. We ended up going to Sharon Jones (who put on a hell of a show!) which turned out to be a great choice as it was the last show of the night and it was getting dark and cold so we basically had one big dance party to stay warm. Can’t wait for next year!

The pictures are great – looks like a really cool festival! Love the boy on the tree and the vintage camera. And the camper bus is also super nice!
