vintage singer

This is the original receipt for the Singer sewing machine that my grandmother purchased for $150 back in 1951. The vintage Singer is on temporarily loan to me, and as I was flipping through the instruction booklet this little gem fell out!

I didn’t take a picture before I put the sewing machine away, but it’s this model.

gocco inspiration

My poor Gocco hasn’t been unpacked since we moved (2 months ago!) so I’ve been browsing the Flickr gocco pool for motivation. I came across this charming wedding program from things are better with a parrott… a bicycle built for two – so cute!

Friday Finds: Lorena Barrezueta Gourmet Collection

Beautiful shapes and colors in Lorena Barrezueta’s Gourmet Collection dinnerware. Cast from aluminum takeout containers, the collection comes in a variety of colored overglazes and all sorts of shapes and sizes. I particularly like the Fresh line for the wonderful array of colors including salmon, tomato, celadon, and chartreuse…. Yum!

Select pieces from the Fresh line are available at the Curiosity Shoppe, and “samples, seconds, and surprises” can be purchased from Lorena’s etsy shop.

what to wear: ankle boots

Sara found a great pair of ankle boots, but is having trouble deciding what to wear them with. I’m glad I’m not the only person who is stumped by the ubiquitous bootie! Because they hit at the ankle, booties have a tendency make your legs appear shorter; by wearing skinny jeans or a short dress, you can create the illustion of longer legs. With that in mind, here are 3 outfits I think look great with ankle boots:

Work: With a shorter skirt, choose one with a bit of volume. A colorful ruffled shirt contrasts the edgier boots, and textured navy tights tie in the blue from the skirt.
Weekend: Skinny jeans (while not for everyone) look great tucked into ankle boots. Pair with a cute layering tee and cardigan for a casually cute weekend look.
On the town
: A short dress creates the illusion of long legs when paired with dark ribbed tights and ankle boots. Put on a statement necklace to complete the look.

Hope this is helpful, Sara. Enjoy!

Lill pillow

I just discovered that 1154 Lill Studio makes pillows in addition to their lovely bags! So many great ones to choose from, but this one is my favorite.
